Etymology:

Author (R.J. Tillyard) explained in his article only ethymology of higher taxon - Protelytroptera: 'As the most suitable name, Protodermaptera, besides taking for granted the whole question of affinities, has already been used by M. Burr for a subordinate group within the order Dermaptera itself, I propose for the new order of fossil isects the name Protelytroptera'.
