Etymology:

The new generic name is a combination of the Ancient Greek adjective êkpagloV (ékpaglos, meaning, “marvelous” or “wonderous”) and the noun dèrma (dérma, meaning, “hide” or “skin”; genitive dèrmatoV/dérmatos).
